Amendments to the Federal Rules of Practice and Procedure - Posted: 12/04/2019
Congress has taken no action on the proposed amendments to the Federal Rules of Appellate, Bankruptcy, and Criminal Procedure, the Rules of Evidence, the Rules Governing Section 2254 Cases in the United States District Courts, and the Rules Governing Section 2255 Proceedings for the United States District Courts adopted by the Supreme Court and transmitted to Congress on April 25, 2019. Under the Rules Enabling Act, 28 U.S.C. §§ 2071-75, the following took effect on December 1, 2019.

Court Closure for Tropical Storm Bualoi - Posted: 10/20/2019
Due to the approach of Tropical Storm Bualoi the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands will be closed on Monday, October 21, 2019 and will reopen at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.

Court Closure due to Super Typhoon Hagibis - Posted: 10/08/2019
This is the second general order addressing the court’s closure due to Super Typhoon Hagibis. Since General Order 19-00006 was issued, Tropical Storm Hagibis developed into a Super Typhoon on October 7, 2019. The District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands will remain closed all day on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 and will reopen at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

District Court of Guam: Notice for Appointment of New Magistrate Judge - Posted: 05/07/2019
The Judicial Conference of the United States has authorized the appointment of a full-time United States Magistrate Judge for the District Court of Guam in Hagåtña, Guam. The essential function of courts is to dispense justice. An important component of this function is the creation and maintenance of diversity in the court system. A community’s belief that a court dispenses justice is heightened when the court reflects the community’s diversity.

Judiciary Operations Continue After Funding Extension Is Enacted - Posted: 01/30/2019
A new continuing resolution that was signed into law last Friday will fund the Judiciary’s fiscal year 2019 operations through February 15, 2019

Judiciary Has Funds to Operate Through Jan. 31 - Posted: 01/23/2019
The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO) now estimates that federal courts can sustain funded operations through January 31, 2019. The Judiciary continues to explore ways to conserve funds so it can sustain paid operations through February 1. No further extensions beyond February 1 will be possible. The Judiciary previously had revised its estimate for exhausting available funds from January 18 to January 25.
