Unclaimed Funds are deposited with the court when a trustee in a bankruptcy case is unable to distribute money from the bankruptcy estate to the parties who are entitled to it.
Unclaimed funds may arise out of a variety of circumstances in bankruptcy cases, such as:
- Incorrect address for the recipient
- Uncashed distribution checks
- Death of intended recipient
Unclaimed funds may be claimed at any time by an owner, successor, or other claimant who proves a right to the funds.
