Judiciary to Continue Funded Operations Until Jan. 25 - Posted: 01/18/2019
During the partial shutdown of the federal government, which began December 22, 2018, the Judiciary has continued to operate by using court fee balances and other “no-year” funds. The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO) now estimates that federal courts can sustain funded operations through January 25, 2019.

A civics contest organized by the federal courts of the western United States offers high school students a chance to win cash prizes. The contest is open to high school students in nine western states and two Pacific island jurisdictions.

Judiciary Operating During Shutdown - Posted: 12/23/2018
Despite a partial shutdown of the federal government that began on December 22, 2018, the Judiciary remains open and can continue operations for approximately three weeks, through January 11, 2019, by using court fee balances and other funds not dependent on a new appropriation.

Amendments to the Federal Rules of Practice and Procedure - Posted: 12/04/2018
Congress has taken no action on the proposed amendments to the Federal Rules of Appellate, Bankruptcy, Civil and Criminal Procedure adopted by the Supreme Court and transmitted to Congress on April 26, 2018. Under the Rules Enabling Act, 28 U.S.C. §§ 2071-75, the following took effect on December 1, 2018.

Resumption of Regular Business Hours After Super Typhoon Yutu - Posted: 11/28/2018
This is the seventh and final general order addressing the court’s operating hours in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yutu. The court will resume regular business hours on December 3, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 pm to 4:30 p.m.

Temporary Waiver of Credit Counseling and Financial Education Requirements - Posted: 11/19/2018
The United States Trustee Program has issued a temporary waiver of the federal statutory requirements for credit counseling and personal financial management education for consumer bankruptcy filers in the District for the Northern Mariana Islands, due to the effects of Super Typhoon Yutu.

This is the fourth general order addressing the court’s operating hours due to Super Typhoon Yutu. The District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands' business hours will be from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. from October 30, 2018 through November 2, 2018.

This is the third general order addressing the court’s closure due to Super Typhoon Yutu. The District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands will remain closed all day Friday, October 26, 2018.

Court Closure for Typhoon Yutu - Posted: 10/24/2018
This is the second general order addressing the court’s closure due to Typhoon Yutu. Since General Order 18-00007 was issued, Typhoon Yutu decreased in speed and increased in strength. The District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands will remain closed all day on October 25, 2018.
