Court Closure Due to Typhoon Mawar

Tuesday, May 23, 2023

Due to the increasing threat of Typhoon Mawar, the Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands anticipates the declaration of Tropical Storm Condition I for the islands of Saipan and Tinian later today, and has ordered the closure of all  government offices effective 12:30 p.m. With the island of Saipan currently under a tropical storm warning of Tropical Storm Condition II due to Typhoon Mawar and the erratic movement of the typhoon, the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands will close Tuesday, May 23 starting at 1:00 p.m. through Wednesday May 24, 2023, to allow employees to prepare for the approaching storm and to stay secure while it passes through the islands. Heavy rainfall and damaging winds of 39 mph or more are expected to impact Saipan starting tonight through most of the day on May 24, 2023. The court will reopen on Thursday May 25, 2023, unless otherwise ordered.

The CM/ECF electronic filing system will remain online, unaffected by this weather closure.
