Attorney Admission Plan

Plan for Administration of the Attorney Admission Fund of the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands.  Attorneys seeking to be members of the bar of this court are required to pay admissions, pro hac vice, and renewal fees which are in addition to the fees established by the Judicial Conference pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1914. These fees are deposited into the court’s Attorney Admission Fund (the Fund) and constitute a source of non-appropriated funds to be used only for purposes which inure to the benefit of the bench and the bar in the administration of justice.

Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Plan

The objective of this Plan is to attain the ideal of equality before the law for all persons. Therefore, this Plan will be administered so that those accused of any crime, or otherwise eligible for services under the CJA, will not be deprived, because they are financially unable to pay for adequate representation, of any element of representation necessary to an adequate defense.

Employment Dispute Resolution Policy

This Policy provides options for the reporting and resolution of allegations of wrongful conduct (discrimination, sexual, racial, or other discriminatory harassment, abusive conduct, and retaliation) in the workplace. Early action is the best way to maintain a safe work environment. All Judges, Employing Offices, and Employees have a responsibility to promote workplace civility, prevent harassment or abusive conduct, and to take appropriate action upon receipt of reliable information indicating a likelihood of wrongful conduct under this Policy. See Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees, Canon 3(C).

Jury Selection Plan

This Jury Plan is adopted by the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands in accordance with the provisions of the Jury Selection and Service Act of 1968 (Public Law 90-274), as amended and codified in 28 U.S.C.§ 1861 et seq.
