Judicial Assistant to Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona
Permanent, Full‐Time Position ‐ Location: SAIPAN, NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS (CNMI)
Starting grade: JSP 8 step 1 to JSP 11 step 1 ($55,882 to $74,678 plus 11.88% COLA)*
*Salary dependent on experience and qualifications

Position Overview:
The Judicial Assistant for the Chief Judge will provide administrative management of chambers and assist the Chief Judge in the daily activities of the office. Duties include receiving and assisting visitors; answering and screening phone calls; monitoring and maintaining the Chief Judge’s calendar; coordinating community outreach events; assisting the Chief Judge with her involvement in various judicial committees, meetings, and other functions, including arranging travel in accordance with existing policies and regulations; researching and preparing draft orders, correspondence, reports, and meeting agendas; managing cases and other files; assisting and coordinating with interns, externs, law clerks and the Clerk’s Office. Additional duties as assigned, which may include responsibilities in the Clerk’s Office to provide back-up and maintain separation of duties.
Minimum Qualifications and Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants should have a strong executive administrative support background, preferably in a court or related legal field, with organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collegially within a small team. Applicants must be a high school graduate or equivalent, with at least two years of general work experience and three years of specialized experience (5 years total). Education may be substituted for work experience. Additional preference will be given to applicants with college degrees or other advance degrees. Applicants should demonstrate sound discretion, ethics and judgment, be able to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) and demonstrate basic computer proficiency. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, Adobe, general online research and case management systems preferred.

Citizenship Requirement and Notice to Applicants:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or authorized to work in the United States. Selectees are subject to a background investigation which includes fingerprinting and a credit check, and suitability determination and future periodic background investigations. Appointments are “at will” and may be terminated with or without cause. Employees must comply with the Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees. Mandatory direct bank deposit of payroll required.
